WE ARE EUROPE - The Final PINE-D Conference

The conference took two days.
The conference took part on 18 and 19 May 2016.
The conference took part in Hotel NOVAPARK in Graz, Austria.
It was free to take part in the conference.

The conference was for people with and without intellectual and complex disabilities.

At the conference, people got information on the PINE-D project.
At the conference, people also got information about how to take part in the EU.
At the conference, you were able to say what you needed to take part in the EU. And you were able to say what you really thought.

Preparing AAC and making yourself feel comfortable.

09:30 - 10:00
The Deputy Mayor of Graz, Ms. Martina SCHRÖCK, welcomed the participants.

We introduced the PINE-D project. We gave an overview of the project.

We explained the aims of the project. And we spoke about how people with complex disabilities can take part in Europe.

Lunch break

13:00 - 16:00
In the project, every country had organised national events. We showed what the people had been doing in the different countries. And we showed what other people had been saying about it. And we spoke about the differences in the different countries.

Mr. Johann STADLER and Mr. Thomas MARKA spoke about people with complex disabilities. They spoke about what people with complex disabilities need to take part in the life of Europe.

We all took part in working groups. There were three working groups with three different topics. The participants were able to choose their working group.
Working group 1: How can Europe better speak with people with complex disabilities?
Working group 2: What can people with complex disabilities do when they want to take part in Europe?
Working group 3: What must Europe do to have more people with complex disabilities take part in Europe?

13:00 - 14:30
Lunch break

14:30 - 16:00
We had written a text with wishes to European politicians. We explained the term "petition". We introduced this text.
Everybody had the chance to sign the text before it was sent to the European Parliament.
